SERVICES - WHAT WE DO

Led by Dr T Lawrence, our fully qualified clinicians offer a natural method of treatment to relieve general pains caused by normal aging, injuries or accidents. We do more than just masking the symptoms of problems with drugs.

Our approach is to find out the cause of the problem and treat it.  We aim to let you get the most out of your body. Not just patch you up and send you on your way. At Goose Lane Clinic we recognise when you’re not feeling well and understand how your life is affected by your symptoms.

Lifestyle and Diet Advice

We also offer you lifestyle and diet advice, because healthcare isn't just about getting healthy, but staying healthy. This is why we believe that your healthcare should be individually tailored to meet your requirements and we will set you goals and targets.

MEET THE TEAM

Dr. Thomas Lawrence, DC.
(Doctor of Chiropractic), Mchiro.

‘I originally found chiropractic when my mother went to a local chiropractor as a last resort after receiving a wide range of treatments for sciatica.  After four treatments she was virtually pain free and moving about, back to her old lifestyle and has never looked back’.

‘These amazing results astounded me and hooked my family and me on the benefits of Chiropractic. Since then all the family regularly have treatment to stop all the small aches and pains that occur from LIVING life, instead of avoiding the activities we want to do’.

‘I’m really disappointed that there are still a handful of people that only try Chiropractic as a last resort, as the amount of people I’ve been exposed to and the benefits that they gain from treatment is amazing.  My previous experience has ranged from working with the GB swimming team hopefuls in Cardiff pre the 2012 Olympic games to the more complicated and debilitating cases that I’ve seen in practice.’

Lynsey Walker

Massage Therapist.

Sue Colley

Receptionist.

Anne Holt
Receptionist.

After graduating from St Mary's University with a BSc degree in sports rehabilitation our massage therapist, Lynsey, now has over nine years clinical experience.  During this time she has got a great deal of satisfaction from helping people improve their quality of life.

She has worked with a wide spectrum of patient's such as dedicated athletes in Rotherham to patient's with advanced neurological conditions, such as muscular dystrophy, helping then complete their everyday tasks more easily.  She is usually found smiling somewhere round the clinic, so if you see her be sure to say hi and have a chat

Sue comes to us wih over nineteen year's experience in a variety of service industries.  Based on this work she decided to form her own successful service company two years ago. She feels that one of the most rewarding features and elements of her past work was to develop a friendly, welcoming, close rapport with people.

A feature that she intends to repeat with our patients.  The sort of thing that is part of the clinic's culture.  If you have any problems please tell sue and she'll make sure they can be sorted out.

Anne recently finished a rewarding 38 year career as a Nursery School teacher in Sheffield, so no problem is too small or complicated to handle in her experience.

'I am delighted to be part of the team at Goose Lane Clinic and look forward to working with a slightly older clientèle! I have had previously the occasional niggles and pains in my neck and back, but after having a course of treatment and massage therapy, I can certainly vouch for the Benefits! Like the other members of the team, I still have the occasional treatments just to top me up and keep me going!'.

ABOUT US

What happens on my first visit?

On arriving at the clinic please make use of our free off street parking then make your way through our front door into the porch. (Don’t worry the front door is always open so you won’t be caught out in the rain). Once here please buzz through the intercom to our receptionist, who will pop down the corridor to meet you and show you through to our comfortable waiting room.

Here they will take the necessary details, including medical history. (Naturally, all patient information is confidential and stored securely.)  Then your clinician will come to collect you and your journey to improved health starts.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural, drug free manual therapy that helps to establish and maintain both joint movement and muscle function by stimulating and affecting the nervous system.

It’s not just about back and neck pain.  It includes treatment of problems from the smallest joints in the feet to treatment of the soft tissues surrounding the top of the neck and jaw… and everything in between.

Chiropractic uses a range of techniques, which are tailored to
suit your needs, including:

Manual adjustments
Techniques to improve posture, misalignment and function of your body to start you on the process back to a better working you.

Massage therapy
Our highly trained therapists are on board to ease your tight muscle tension and pains away; whether that’s by referral from your managing chiropractor or whether you want to book in to soothe your stress levels.

FAQ

• How long does my first chiropractic appointment last?

The first appointment includes both a consultation and full in depth examination.  This takes generally about 45 minutes to complete so the clinician can get as much information and background about your specific condition as possible.  It has to be noted that the first session will include   some treatment to start providing immediate help, but the main aim is for the  clinician to get as full a review of  your condition as possible and produce a detailed treatment plan that is suited to your personal case.  After all no case is ever the same; you are an individual.

At the following appointment your clinician will inform you of the treatment plan, fully explaining the details of your individual case and the treatments proposed.   If you are then happy to start your treatment the first session will begin.

• Will I be waiting around?

No!  Our clinicians always try to run on time, but there may be the exception when an appointment could be a few minutes late.  This could be due to someone who has a medical emergency or needs a few minutes more.  After all it could be you next time that requires a little more help.

• What is maintenance care and is it appropriate for me?

At the end of somebody’ treatment plan or when they reach their goal they may want to call back within a month or two to see if everything is still on track or if they need a top up treatment to keep them going.  This is called maintenance care.  Alternatively, if you want a maintenance check at any time  you are always welcome to book an appointment to see your clinician.  If they find that nothing is needed there is no charge for the appointment.

Personally as a chiropractor I always have regular check-ups and treatment to keep pain free.

• If I have already been a patient at the clinic and want to call back in for a check, what is the longest period of time I can leave between coming back to see a clinician?

As a patient you are welcome back to the clinic at any point in time; but if you leave a gap longer than 6 months from seeing one of our clinicians or therapists then a longer appointment or consultation is needed before treatment.  This is because your condition might have changed.  We have to be sure that we are treating the same condition as before.  Patients who leave a gap of a year or more between sessions will need a new consultation.

• If whilst been treated I have a new or different complaint I want someone to look at can I have it assessed?

Of course.  As long as you are a patient of the clinic, if you have any further problems other than the original complaint, please mention it to your clinician/ therapist.  Also tell us when you book your appointment so the clinician can allocate more time in the diary.  After all we treat your whole healthcare as one and not each injury individually.

• Do you cater for disabled needs or requirements?

The clinic has full disabled access.  If you have any special requirements such as disabled toilet facilities or even just help getting out the car more, just ‘phone ahead and let our receptionist know so we can do as much as possible to help.
